Lower School Wishlists, 2010-11All through the year, our dedicated faculty is striving to enhance the educational experience of each child. Our teachers participate in professional development opportunities (yes, even over the summer) to improve their instruction, and they review their curricula to reflect today’s best educational practices. Sometimes, however, what teachers really need are additional classroom resources – whether books, technologies, specialized furniture, or musical instruments. Other times, a certain piece of equipment can make all the difference in meeting children’s individual needs and learning styles, like an iPod for recorded Hebrew lessons to assist an auditory learner, or a "wiggle cushion" to help focus a first-grader who would otherwise have difficulty sitting still for more than five minutes.
We asked our Lower School teachers (Grades K-5) for a list of tangible items that would enrich their lessons, enhance their classroom atmosphere, or support their ability to reach diverse learners. While all the items on these wishlists would add value to students' experience, not all of them fit into the school year’s budget. Today, we invite you to join in our 2010-11 school year preparations by helping us grant our teachers' wishes.
To help us put your generosity to use in a timely fashion, we would appreciate hearing from you by August 1, 2010. Let’s see if we can surprise our teachers and students with some exciting new resources by the beginning of the school year!
